Our Impact
Every order helps rescue local wildlife.
We design gear for people who love nature. Now every purchase directly funds the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of injured birds and wildlife right here on the North Carolina coast.
See how it works ↓We started by planting trees. Now we're protecting the birds and wildlife that live in them.
Wandering Owl started with a simple idea: every order should do something good for nature. For our first chapter, that meant planting trees — and together, we planted 2,226 of them. We're proud of that, and those trees are still growing.
But as our brand has grown, so has our sense of purpose. We make gear about birds and the wild places they call home. It made sense to put our giving directly into the hands of the people out there actually doing the rescuing — right in our own backyard. So we found OWLS.
Now every single purchase supports the Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter: a small, community-powered nonprofit in Newport, NC that takes in injured and orphaned native wildlife and gives them a second chance at the wild.

Meet the people doing the work
Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter (OWLS)
Founded in 1988 in Newport, NC, OWLS rescues, rehabilitates, and releases injured, sick, and orphaned native North Carolina wildlife. That means raptors, songbirds, shorebirds, and yes — all the other critters that share this coast with us. Owls, hawks, pelicans, deer, turtles — if it's native to NC and it needs help, OWLS shows up.
What makes them extraordinary: they receive zero state or federal funding. Every animal they save — every surgery, every feeding, every release — is funded entirely by people in the community who care.

Two chapters. One mission.
We're proud of where we've been — and excited about where we're going.
Trees Planted
Through our partnership with Sprout, every order planted a tree. Those 2,226 trees are still growing — still cleaning air, storing carbon, and providing habitat for the birds and wildlife we love.
